Aliases: Mistress Heart, Eponine Heather
Race: Infusio
Culture: Calligian
An enthusiastic and optimistic girl early on who looses some of her shine when she is the only know survivor after her Boyan Troupe is killed. Throughout her life, Po is impulsive and excited by Ardenta’s ideals of love and beauty, much to the annoyance and frustration of others stuck in depressed lives in a depressed realm.
Once revived as Hope, her optimism and excitement becomes unstoppable and contagious, more along the lines of a Manic Pixie Dream Girl.
At all points in her life she is flirtatious, friendly, charming as hell but lacking intelligence or wisdom. While she is not magical before her pact, Eponine has a talent for performing both on stage and for seances, a skill she learned from Auntie Oír.
- Calligo Valley/Calligian Human — Eponine looks like many Callgio humans — ivory/warm ivory skin tone marked with farmers tans
- Androgynous — As a child, Eponine’s gender is perfectly ambiguous and her parents and friends are content to let her figure it out. As a young adult, Eponine identifies secretly as a woman but dresses masc and occasionally acts masc when she is not on-stage. When she is revived as Hope, she is fully able to express her gender as an extremely feminine woman.
- Depressed and Masking, Then Manic Pixie — Eponine grew up with little supplies and little support. Into hear adulthood, she maintains a positive, extremely friendly exterior that hides a depressed and self-doubting inner monologue. Very depression-coded. Then Hope died and was reborn with her wishes coming true. Not only is Hope able to believe in herself now, but her optimism is contagious. With a second chance at freedom, beauty, truth, and love — she is full of pure joy. In distress, she is impulsive, emotionally manipulative, and stubborn.
- Biased against ugly people.
- Bad at fighting, actually. despite her magical abilities later on, Hope is trash at martial combat and knows it.
Appearance
- Young Eponine Heather — Eponine Heather is a skinny and boyish child with messy heather/brown hair that falls to her mid back, though it’s usually tied back into a messy ponytail. Her complexion Colligian (ivory) but she has noticeable blemishes and tan lines from living and traveling with Boyan Troupes her whole life. Bright blue eyes. As a kid, she’s generally wearing well-worn and ill-fitting clothing with little adornment.
- Adult Eponine (Boy Mode) — Eponine uses androgyny to her advantage, performing as a young woman at the inn and living a double life as a courier for the Ravens as a nameless young man. As a courier, Eponine wears a loose fitting shirt and pants, fingerless gloves, and her leather cargo belt. Over this she wears a heavy oiled military coat. She wears no makeup and has her hair tucked into a taffta hat. She carries Mina’s courier bag slung over a shoulder.
- Adult Eponine (Girl Mode) — When performing at the Inn, or in her leisure time, Eponine dresses in an outfit more akin to a mix of her Calatorian origins with the common style in Calligo — A loose fitting dress over a form fitting acrobat’s leotard with tall boots that reveals her more feminine form. She wears makeup in this form.
- Hope Heart — Her boy and girlmode outfits combine. She takes the belt and gloves, combines it with the leotard and boots. Finally, she acquires her Venpuff dress from the local clothier and unicorn rapier from the blacksmith during the chaos in town, giving her her final look. Most notably, her hair turns pale ivory/grey. Her eye color and skin tone do not change, but her skin does become more blemish free.
Medium Abilities
- Eponine has a predisposition to perceiving ghosts because she looks for them and loves ghost stories. She wants to believe. This is a craft he must hone, not an innate ability. However, she cannot usually see them more than anyone else.
- Eponine communicates to ghosts via Witch’s Communion, an imperfect seance spell.
- Some of the souls have trouble answering questions, others have fully gone mad. This is common for ghosts, as all are slowly digested by elementals. What is uncommon is the number of ghosts in Calligo Valley, many more due to the stone’s influence.
- The more Eponine/Hope can remind them of their lives with items, stories, emotions, the more they return to be themselves and the more those ghosts remember too. Specific, emotionally charged items are more likely to bring back memories.
- Eponine knows how to open a connection, and can petition a ghost to join her, but cannot conjure any specific ghost and compel them to speak until she gets the The Occultist’s Call from Hellsing
- The chapter where Hope saves Tania in the woods shows what Eponine’s seances look like from the other side.
Eponine Songs
- The Lost Unicorn — A local melancholy love song story about a mythical unicorn that fell in love with a human, chose mortality, and died. Then look into the sky where through | The clouds a path is torn |Look and see her, how she sparkles
- Libertía’s Lullaby — A famous love song depicting the Ardentía love for (seducing) Libertía. Unabashedly horny song and inn favorite. Don’t yet go to sleep. Oh love and life. Don’t go to sleep, I need you tonight. | Come for me fire | Come for me light | Come for me o’rapture, burning bright.
Dullahan Abilities
After her death, she is revived by Ardentía herself, as a spirit of vengeance for life and love, gaining immense healing abilities, flight, the ability to transform into a ball of light, and throw out massive radiant damage.
